Musetto New York Post Rated: 2/4 Jun 7, 2011 Full Review A Beautiful Life | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Ye Liu gives a warm and tender performance, and Qi Shu sizzles, but the film [eventually] becomes too melodramatic and occasionally drags. Rated: 6.44/10 Jun 14, 2011 Full Review A Beautiful Life | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Brent Simon Screen International An uncommonly well sketched romantic drama, anchored by nice performances, about the tractor-beam allure that a certain type of wild, damaged women possess for a particular corresponding type of lonely men. Audience Member Many of the critics of this movie don't seem to have watched it all the way through. It's about a person who is transformed by love, who finally realizes that her love for her man is the most important thing in her life. The first part of the movie is about the before version of the person. If you don't get to the point of the transformation, you'll think the main character is not very nice, and people seem to have turned the movie off because of that. Trust me, it's worth watching to the end. Actress Shu Qi does a great job of portraying her character, and does a tour de force acting scene when she's walking down an alley drunk. The scene goes on for several minutes in one shot, which you don't see in many modern movies. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The girl was nasty. A guy who would like such a mean & selfish girl, is a lonely desperate one. Is it love to fall for such a mean girl, or simply masoch*stic? It was hard watching each minute of it. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Who knew the famous HK actress Qi Shu had freckles (in one of her close-ups). That noted, this is immersion in Chinaland today - the good, the spoiled & bitchy, the neo-rich, the middle, the bad, and the good again. Almost 2 films in each of its hours ultimately to become a bit melodramatic. If you've been to China, you'll like this; if not, maybe not. The Chinese have a sweetness; this film reflects that. Subtitles that usually are OK are up-&-gone too quickly here. Worth a look, but it's Chinese filmmaking. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing film, I loved it more towards the end but it is my favorite movie right now! The actors were great in this, Ye Liu did an amaing job playing Zhendong he was very believeable. I love Qi Shu Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes Shu Qi's acting is a bit too much though especially for this movie. But at the end, this movie at least gave a good ending to a tough life that's normal nowadays. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful movie, I enjoyed it. It was so different than I that it was going to be. Qi Shu is so good in this, I fell in love with her character. Its not just her the other actors were remarkable, If I can find the dvd I'll buy this movie :) Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
