In total, there are five different types of Weapon Damage in The Outer Worlds. With that being said, each weapon within the game provides a distinct damage effect that excels against a particular type of enemy, so find out below which damage type is most effective against which enemies.

• Corrosion - Corrosion is designed to work particularly well against armored enemies, along with Mantisaurs and Auto-Mechanicals. It can also provide passive damage over time due to its Acid effect.
• Physical - Physical damage is the most basic damage type and is most effective against armor.
• Plasma - Although Mantisaurs happen to be being very resistant to Plasma damage, it does work very well against unarmored enemies (flesh). Much like Corrosion, Plasma can also passively damage enemies over time with a bleed effect.
• N-Ray - Designed to passively damage nearby enemies, N-Ray has the ability to bypass most armors. However, it is particularly weak against Auto-Mechanicals.
• Shock - Shock damage is best used against Auto-Mechanicals.
