Where you can get your 12- to 15-year-old a COVID-19 vaccine in Michigan (2024)

Now that kids ages 12-15 can get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, here's where you can go to get them immunized in Michigan.

Keep in mind that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccineis the onlytypeauthorized so far for use in people younger than 18 in the United States, and a parent or guardian must be present when kids get their shots.

Here's how to get children vaccinated:

COVID-19 vaccines at hospital clinics

ASCENSION MICHIGAN:All Ascension Michigan community vaccination clinics are now offering self-scheduling vaccine appointments and are also accepting walk-ins.

For details, go tohttps://healthcare.ascension.org/COVID-19/vaccinationsand choose "Michigan" to search for appointments near you. For kids ages 12-17, select the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine when setting up anappointment, as some clinic sites may be administering vaccines other than the Pfizer-BioNTech.

Locations with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine include:

  • Mid-Michigan:Ascension Genesys Conference and Banquet Center
  • Southeast Michigan:City of Southfield Civic Center Pavilion and other sites
  • West Michigan:Kalamazoo County Expo Center(Ascension Borgess is collaborating with Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department at this site.)
  • Ascension MyHealth Urgent Care-Southfield
  • Ascension MyHealth Urgent Care-Troy

BEAUMONT HEALTH: Appointments can be made by calling 800-592-4784 or online through its myBeaumontchart patient portalor by walking in at any of the following locations:

  • Beaumont Service Center: 26901 Beaumont Blvd., Southfield:7 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday; 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, and 7 a.m.-4 p.m.Friday.

  • Beaumont Moceri Learning Center, 44201 Dequindre Road, Troy: 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Beaumont Learning and Innovation Center,18200 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn:8 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

DETROIT MEDICAL CENTER: Parents or guardians who are interested in scheduling their child for the COVID-19 vaccine can call313-263-3337 or visit the DMC Children’s Hospital website at childrensdmc.org/ to make an appointment.

HENRY FORD HEALTH SYSTEM: Vaccines for children ages 12-15will be available starting as soon asSaturday at its mass vaccination sites. Appointments can be madeonline at henryford.com/vaccine. No online patient MyChart portal isrequired.

IHA MEDICAL GROUP: Asubsidiary of the St. Joseph Mercy Health System and a member of Trinity Health, the IHA will open upvaccine appointments for children 12-15 at its pediatric offices.

Children do not have to be existing IHA patients to get a vaccine at any of the IHA locations. And if parents who bring their children for immunizations have yet to be vaccinated, they can book themselves for shots along with their kids.

To make an appointment with at an IHA site, go toIHAcares.com/schedulevaccine, which will include the online scheduling link for 12- to 15-year-olds as soon as it is available.

The shots will be given onlyby appointment at the following locations:

Children ages 12-17 must have a consent form signed to get a vaccine.For more details, to download a consent form or make an appointment, go to:mclaren.org/main/coronavirus-vaccine. Appointments are preferred but not required.

MERCY HEALTH PHYSICIAN PARTNERS:Inwestern Michigan, this medical group will offer vaccines to children ages 12-15at itsShape orKentwood clinic sites.To schedule an appointment, go to:mercyhealth.inquicker.com/vaccine.

MICHIGAN MEDICINE: Vaccine appointmentsare expected to be available for children ages 12-15 who have Michigan Medicine medical record numbersas soon as Saturday.

If your child does not have a medical record number with the Ann Arbor-based health system and you'd like toestablish one,call734-936-4990.

Appointment scheduling for vaccines for children 12-15 will be available online through the onlineMyUofMHealth patient portalor by calling its COVID-19 vaccine scheduling center at 734-763-6336 between the hours of7 a.m. and6 p.m.

SPECTRUM HEALTH: Teens and tweens can get vaccinated at a walk-in clinic set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at4700 SixtiethSt. SE, Grand Rapids.

To make an appointment for a shot at another Spectrum Health location or for another date/time, go tospectrumhealth.org/vaccine or call 833-734-0016.

COVID-19 vaccines at health department clinics

DETROIT: The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available to any Detroiter ages 12 and older at any city-run vaccine clinic site. Appointments can be scheduled at 313-230-0505 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., but walk-ins also are welcome.

The clinics include:

  • TCF Center downtown, open8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays
  • Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays
  • Straight Gate International Church, 10100 Grand River Ave., open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays
  • Farwell Recreation Center, 2711 E. Outer Drive, open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. weekdays
  • Clemente, 2631 Bagley St.,from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays
  • Clark Park, 1130 Clark St., from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays
  • Samaritan Center, 5555 Conner, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays

Community Saturday events scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at:

A parent or guardian must be present and sign a consent form for children under the age of 18 to get a vaccine. There will be no $50 Good Neighbor pre-paid debit card for those who drive children to get vaccinations, Mayor Mike Duggan said.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District also has a COVID-19 vaccine clinicplanned in conjunction with the city health department 9 a.m.-4 p.m. May 22 at Randolph Career and Technical Center,17101 Hubbell in Detroit.

Residents can find other vaccination locations by texting their address to 313-217-3732.

WAYNE COUNTY:In Wayne County, 12- to 15-year-olds will be incorporated into the existing vaccination program, saidBill Nowling, a spokesman for Wayne County Executive Warren Evans.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available at following clinics:

  • Wayne County Community College District sites in Belleville (9555 Haggerty Road) and Taylor (21000 Northline Road) from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and at the college district site in Harper Woods (19305 Vernier Road) from noon-7 p.m. Wednesdays
  • Flat Rock Community Center, 1 Maguire St., in Flat Rock, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday
  • Lincoln Park Community Center, 3525 Dix Highway, in Lincoln Park from noon-7 p.m. Wednesdays

To register through the county health division, go towaynecounty.com/covid19or call866-610-3885 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Walk-ups also are accepted.

"We might do something with school districts, but that isyet to be determined,” Nowlingsaid, adding the county also is trying to work with Wayne County RESA for pop-up clinics in individual school districts.

OAKLAND COUNTY: Residents can make appointments for their 12- to 15-year-olds beginning Wednesday night, said Bill Mullan, a spokesman for Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter.

They can make an appointment for themselves or their childrenin Oakland County atoaklandcountyvaccine.com. They also can call the Nurse On Call number at 800-848-5533 if they don't have a computer or internet access.

MACOMB COUNTY:Vaccines for 12- to 15-year-oldsmay be available as early as Thursday in the Verkuilen Building, 21885 Dunham Road,Clinton Township, and the Southwest Health Service Center, 27690 Van Dyke, Suite B, in the Majestic Plazain Warren, saidMacomb County Deputy Executive Vicki Wolber.

Walk-ins are welcome, but anyone interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccine is encouraged to sign up in advance atmacombgov.org/vaccinecentral. Same day appointments may be available.

The county may have some partnerships with school districts in the future, Wolber said.

COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies

MEIJER:Immunizations for children ages 12-15 willstartThursday at Meijer pharmacies, said spokeswoman Christina Fecher.

"We have been anticipating this approval, and we have Pfizer vaccine (the only vaccine approved in the U.S. for people under 18) in all Meijer stores,” she wrote in an email to the Free Press.

The company allows walk-ins, and call-ahead scheduled appointments for young people can be madeby texting “COVID” to 75049.

WALGREENS: Same-day appointments can be scheduled online atWalgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine, through the mobile app, by phone at 800-925-4733 or in a store up to 30 minutes prior to their desired appointment time.

CVS: Vaccine appointments are available to 12- to 15-year-olds at5,600 pharmacy locations nationwide— including nearly 70 across Michigan.

Appointments start Thursday, and parental or legal guardian consent is required; children must be accompanied by an adult, spokesman Charlie Rice-Minoso said.

Schedule an appointment online atcvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccineor through the CVS Pharmacy app to ensure availability.

Walk-ins are also accepted.
